The Story
It didn’t take long, when I was 18 years old and working in a summer youth program, to realize Continuing Education was the future of how students should learn.
Forget the fact that I was going to college to become a high school social studies teacher. That soon went out the window when I realized I could instead develop new programs and harness my naturally entrepreneurial spirit – all while making a substantial and much-needed community impact.
Still, I went through the traditional education system, getting my masters degrees and my doctorate in education (and knowing full well that I would never blindly encourage someone else to do the same).
But the upside of all that is that it got me to the administrative levels I dreamt of – into the room where real impact and change can happen. Once I was deemed fit to enter that room, I immediately wanted to step out. I founded the Spur Education Group in 2018 because I wanted to create a better place to work – no BS, no bureaucracy, more creativity – and have the power to impact communities and learners all over the world.
The Spur Group’s flare represents our working approach – but it also represents cohesiveness, community and light. Each part of the flare portrays one of the five Spur groups, and together they represent all the solutions necessary for CE (and yes, academic) units to make an impact on their students and communities.
